- NEW YORK WASTE MAILBOX -

London Calling
New York Waste readers/viewers, young and old:
Please don't forget the cultural interchange between our two great cities!

interchange(represented by - ) (the first influencing the following...)

Johnny Thunders - The two Jones's (Mick and Steve) (okay for the younger
amongst you, The Clash and Sex Pistols)

Keith Richards from Dartford, Kent (okay, outside London I know) - Johnny
Thunders (Queens via Italy!)

Lou Reed - David Bowie from Bromley (yeah Kent, whatever)

Oh fuck this is the stuff of an NYU/UCL thesis on popular music.  Can I just
make a list that is outside the juristiction of Amazon and nothing to do
with the whole NYC/London thing (although some of the following may well be
from...): The La's, Television, Echo + the bunnymen, The Modern Lovers, Nick
Drake, Blondie, The Waterboys, Fountains Of Wayne (yes I know we're just
getting it with them), Oh fuck this is going nowhere but you get the
picture.

Oh we like Jesse Malin in London.  Shame we can only give you The Libertines
in return, though they have their merits.

"London and New York, both worth the price of a cabbage".

You lot never bought Morissey's solo albums after "Your Arsenal" did you?

Alex (London)

Jonathan RichMOND?
In the summer 2003 issue you mention Jonathan Richmond. Perhaps you mean Jonathan Richman. He's only been big in punk since the '70s so I understand how you might not have heard of him before.

Tell Luke his
"The Day the Fish Flew" comic thang was trippin' cool stuff.  Oh......and I like beer.

Rodney

We know all about those Beer fetishes! One bottle leads to the next, and before you know it, you are doing Rock'n'Roll, and reading the Waste and feeling good about yourself... how far will this outrage go? I'm asking you? Rodney sounds like a right pooftah!
